In the E-Myth, Gerber drives home the importance of having a policy manual for even a “mom and pop” business. The E-Myth is still number ten on the New York Times Best Seller list.
“After the Policy Manual summit, I came to understand that whatever I am manufacturing, selling, or servicing, without a “team” to support me, I am nothing”, Wilcox states. “I began to see that as an entrepreneur, my only customers are my employees. Everyone wants to be part of something bigger than themselves for many different reasons. It is how the human psyche is developed”, Wilcox explained.
In the E-Myth, Gerber states that forty percent of small businesses will close within a year, and eighty percent within five years. Only four percent of small businesses make it past ten years. Wilcox’s businesses are all part of that four percent!
